Someone that's a bit dumb can be reffered to as a gallah. It is a dopey-lookin pink bird that somehow got a reputation for being stupid.
Here's what it looks like: |

why is it that pretty much all movies / tv shows that are made relating to australian life always make us look like a bunch of weirdo's with strange accent's and pathetic slang?
it's disturbing to think that the image australia has throughout the world has been created by such shows as home & away, neighbours, crocodile dundee and the latest steve irwin movie..
people must be scared to come visit australia thinking crocodiles roam free and that we all run around yelling crikey tackling crocodiles, spiders and other dangerous creatures!
i've watched this steve irwin guy on shows like conan obrien and jay leno.. and he is such an embarrassment and gets the piss taken out of him for 90% of the time he is on, yet he doesnt even notice it cos he's that ed in the head.
dont take any notice of these shows, they have no relation to australians in the slightest, well apart from maybe the old country people living out in the desert n whatnot.
 |

You mean we don't??
oh btw .. nobody knows where the word "pom" comes from .. a few theories according to the Racial Slur Database :D
Pom It's the acronym of "Port of Melbourne", the port where British immigrants landed in the colonization of Australia.
Pome - "Property of Mother England" Used in Australia, New Zealand, etc. Probably related to and/or another version of Pom.
Pohm - "Prisoner Of Her Majesty". Used mainly in Australia as a derogatory term for British People. Comes from the fact that Australia was a prisoner colony for British Prisoners. |
