Is this possible? I have another track sitting next to it, one minute longer, and it's over double the size. Also the 320 mp3 (which was also an option as I purchased the track on Bandcamp) was only 9 mb in size. Is there something funny going on here?

maybe the same way we have 16 and 32 bit wavs flacs have also different measures? or maybe it's a mono flac, sampling is not 44'1khz... just guessing no real idea.

is it a piece of really quiet/'simple' music? then bitrates can do down pretty towards 250kbps but usually theyre above 1-1.2k..

FLAC can have varying levels of compression (file size) depending on how you encode it. If you want to check if the sound quality is where it should be, run it through a spectrum analizer.

Bandcamp sells VBR which is not really 320 so depending on the file, you can get lower sizes with very high fidelity. CBR is only considered good if you are doing 320. VBR is better in every other instance.CBR will usually be a larger file

FLAC can be applied to 16bit, or 24 bit and the compression settings can be adjusted.

It's a very simple and stripped down kind of track. Mike Dehnert, if that means anything to you.

Nothing unusual.

Woony hit the nail on the head. FLAC can be anything from 350 kbps to 1300 kbps with size varying accordingly. Use Adobe Audio when you're unsure. If the frequency surpasses 22k KHz, it's good. If it's 16-19k it's most likely a 320->FLAC re-encode.

Cool, thanks for clearing it up guys.

Actually the size of a track depend upon the playback and sound quality. If the quality is excellent then the size will be high other wise it will be lower.
