He played a wicked set at Together as One at the Docks in February 2007. I miss Destiny/Temporal Rhythm parties at the docks...where you could find different music in each room and it was all top quality.
I'll have to download this when I get home. |

| he wasnt the trance energy resident and called "Mr Trance Energy" for no reason. will always be one of my top 3 fav trance DJs ever. saw him at viva and republik in toronto along w him closing out WEMF 2004 mainstage. one of the most memorable tear jerking sets/experiences of my life. most of the crowd was literally crying. will never forget that!! |

Seriously? That was the worst DJ set I've ever heard a headline performer deliver. Ever. I've never forgotten it because my friends and I use it as our rock bottom level for how bad sets can be.
I mean, to each their own, and I don't intend for that to sound insulting or mean towards you for thinking otherwise, I'm just surprised that two polar opposite reactions exist towards the same thing. |

Wow, really? What was so bad about his set? His track selection? Mixing and programming? Crowd Interaction?
He played some really good tunes at that time:
Marcel Woods - Cherry Blossom
Rank 1 - Airwave
Tiesto - Flight 643 (Richard Durand Remix)
Eric Prydz vs. Pink Floyd - Proper Education
He had great crowd interaction, got on the mic a few times, stepped off the decks and onto the stage platform - got every one riled up. A good rave vibe and awesome trance tunes coming out of the speakers. To call that the worst headline DJ set you've ever heard...that's a bit far fetched. I think you and your friends tripped out on a few bad pills.

I wasn't on any pills at all, or anything, for that matter (maybe that was the problem?).
I really wasn't enjoying the spectrum of music he chose to play, it was an awkward space between house and trance. Everything sounded to me like trance synth-lines on top of house basslines and I just couldn't stand that flow.
The time he spent on the mic was a definite factor. Crowd interaction is one thing, but spending five minutes on the mic mid-set thanking not only the promoters and the crowd but (if memory serves) things like websites and blogs that had advertised the event was entirely too much.
I wish I could remember specifics, but it has been about 6 years. All I'm left with now is the memory of feeling like the music was awkward and failed to deliver any moments where I could actually get into it, and his time on the mic felt too self-indulgent and ignorant of what the crowd actually wanted. |
