I just recently did an interview with John 00 Fleming, and I figured it'd be something many of the users here would enjoy, seeing as we're always yammering about how much we lurrrve J00F.

this question and answer probly impacted me the most:
On the subject of the popular trance scene, nowadays it seems many of the popular DJs have reduced their set times quite a bit. Some DJs are even playing two hours or less. I've noticed you have an affinity for playing long sets; how long of a set do you think it takes to properly convey the "journey" that you want to provide your listeners?
This just highlights how things have changed for them. They now perform concert-style sets, where they play all their hits along with the most popular tracks. I'm not sure you can go beyond 2 hours of this high energy.
A traditional DJ will be armed with a whole pallet of musical tools insuring that the musical story stays interesting. It's an art form in itself reading the crowd and keeping them interested for a sustained amount of time and this is where I'm in my element. My crowds are there to get their heads down...their crowds are there to have their hands up. |

Great interview! Real good, diverse set of questions and honest (but not brutal) answers.
Can't wait to see him again. He rocked his five hours in Boston, I'm sure he'll do the same for the four hours he has in NYC! |
