Anyway, I mentioned those monitors as those are the only ones I have had a store visit with + my mate uses rokits and swears by them. |
If you only ever listen to one thing I ever say listen to this.
Your mate is a ing idiot. |

Ok before the thread runs away... Note to self Nexus and KRK don't go over well here, friends will even be bashed;)
How are those Barefoots mm35's that were posted?
Back to the Avid stuff, if there is someone out there, anyone at all who can harp on the good points of the control unit when its been used properly please do share. Also maybe for thought a mackie control setup vs avid? Opinions? Anything else geared for use in logic besides those 2? |

| i have the mix and artist. They are the only motorized fader option basically the cheapest you can buy for something that doesn't suck. Next up is the SSL Nucleus. The mbox is absolute junk. You also don't need their hardware so there is no reason to get it. And you don't even want to run protools. |

Looney4clooney,
Struggling to understand what you saying... Mbox has been ruled out long ago as previously stated in favor of an Apogee which was my preference in the 1st place, put the Mbox in the shopping cart as the newer one has better reviews but anyway forget that, Apogee it is.
What I was asking is a Mackie control setup vs Avid control setup exclusively for logic?
Or maybe even a better question to get the answer iam looking for - if you were producing in logic and only logic as your DAW what hard control would you want infront of you? Also seeing as you have an Avid setup - do you use them in Logic? And could you please give me a brief of the pro's and con's in using them that way?
Feedback on the Barefoot monitors (MM 35's)? Feedback on my Headphones of choice? Feedback in general...
Thank you! |

works flawlesslesly. plug and play. It wasn't an avid product until recently. He said no budget. Now even if you had all the money in the world, your purchase is idiotic. Unless you are mixing at 96 khz + , treated room and monitors > 5000.
still if money is no worries , artist series wouldn't make sense. might as well go system 5.

there you go... people at the early stage always forget about cost per track..
if you are a ing gardener making 50 k a year you cant afford a 750K house, ever.
if you wanna do music as a career you should approach your gear as such |

| you need a computer, a decent soundcard, decent monitors, some soundtreament and some software (any really). optional is a midikeyboard. 2500usd will cover everything. |

FML!!!
You 2 done now? Looney4Clooney better to just ignore when dealing with a situation like that hey... As for me iam very interested in your advice because you have the Avids + you also studied in a conventional music environment prior to this undertaking.
Yes I want "shiny shiny" in the sense that I don't need to skimp on budget and may as well buy the best. I don't see the issue in that. Why must a "noob" be limited to starter kit? That's nonsense... I am also not hell bent on the Avid setup, all I have merely stated is that they seem like the best hard controls for Logic optimization and still no one has told me otherwise or better yet offered up alternatives. Please don't say you don't NEED this you don't NEED that... It's not about need its about the ultimate setup given in my proposed question and minimal surface area requirements.
So for the monitors iam leaning towards the SE Eggs, for the controls towards the Avids or mackies if someone can draw a comparison or even something besides that... What would you choose?! Any other comments on the before mentioned components on page 2?
Thanks! |

Actually it's not.
The less you have, the faster you'll learn.
By all means buy all the shiny and ignore advice, just be aware that it'll take you 2-3 more years to get to the level where you can just about make a good mix.
No patronising intended, that's just the way it is. |
