Holy ing : James Zabiela is incredible!! That was the most successfully eclectic set I've ever heard. In just over two hours, the man played techno, house, electro, some borderline glitch hop, a trancey track or two, freestyle scratching (or whatever you want to call it) and drum & bass. I never thought I could hear so many genres in such a short span of time and think highly of the performance, but Zabiela had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. His enthusiasm was infectious. That was dance floor bliss!

He played a version of this track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJUponYGrgk (doesn't seem to want to embed)

And his version was so much more magical than the one I've posted. I'm not sure if he dropped a bootleg, or if he was mixing/editing something different on the fly. His version was vocal-less and placed greater emphasis on the first half of the YouTube link. It was so nice. Does anyone have an ID or link? Maybe I'll never get to hear the version he played again though. Italian PoiSon, you started this thread at 2:36am at which time James was playing this track.

Zabiela also dropped Alden Tyrell ft. Mike Dunn - Touch The Sky (International House Mix), and Shazam says he played The Verve - Love is Noise (Tong & Rogers Wonderland Mix), but again, the version he played of Love is Noise sounded different.

Zabiela also created one of my favourite dance floor memories ever tonight. He played this rowdy-ass remix of Marky Mark's Good Vibrations. So much fun! I'll post a video of it later. It'll only be worth listening to since I can't stand still to take a proper video.

I didn't think Simon Jain would be able to keep my interest after such an amazing set from James, but Simon delivered the goods and had me dancing until they closed the place down. He played some insanely danceable tunes, and he finished with Shadow Child - So High (Hot Since 82 Mix), which is just ing awesome.

The sound at Moskito was top notch, in my opinion. On the downside, they ran out of bottled water, and apparently the bartender's beverage gun was broken. Since I don't drink pop or Red Bull, I had to stick my head under the bathroom tap just to stay hydrated. Fortunately, someone delivered a case or two of bottled water around 3:45am. The place was bumping all night! Some pretty girls, awesome dancers and great vibes.

sorry bud i dont recall the track in question. but your review is spot on, he mashed up all sorts of genres... i dont expect the techno dicks on here to be able to appreciate that but for the rest of the ta community it was simply brilliant. After a set like that anything after would be .... wrong.... Simon Jain was wikkid and kept the energy high... another great night at Moskito...
oh yeah and they did run out of water and cups... but i can over look that this time around...

HUGE thank you to the capacity crowd that came out last night in support of White Label's 2nd installment of our PROPER series! And to SOUND MIND, Vibrations, Jain, Addy, Gerbz, Shannon, Kareem, Jocelyn, and my wicked crew OJ, Bertos and Vlad for pulling this night off (wearing ALL hats last night!)
And last but not least, MASSIVE respect to the one and only JAMES ZABIELA. A class act all the way who put on an absolute CLINIC for us all. It's always a pleasure working with talent that shares such a strong passion for the music we all love...and yes WLP has the entire set recorded live in FULL HD and MP3 which will be posted up soon in a new podcast ;)
Rest assured, James WILL be back soon for another UK beat down, but for now...Proper vol. 3???!
Cheers,
WLP

That is phenomenal news!!! Will you please post in here when the video and MP3 are made available?

James is absolutely a class act. He looked like he was having the best time!

Is Proper Vol. 3 already planned? You guys ing killed it! Well done.

Here's the video I took of "Good Vibrations" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0FY-oLpsho&feature=youtu.be Please note that my videography skills are horrendous since I can't help but dance like a maniac. I'm no Kotsy, that's for sure.

Hahaha "I bet the ******s don't even know who Derrick Carter is!" Happy to report I've seen Derrick on multiple occasions.

Zabiela's set certainly couldn't be called deep house. He played some deep house tracks, but the only word I can label his set with is eclectic.

Did you mean to quote my other thread? I just posted here the track in your video. Deep house right now is in a loop for the general public which s on the genre. Confusion of sounds, a "fat" bass and an imitation of old school vocals is all it takes to rank a track as deep house today.

Haha man, I'm spinning around, jumping up and down, etc. I'm sure my phone made 360 degrees worth of rotation throughout my filming.
