Ableton Live 9 and Push. Thoughts?

I have 8 and the apc40 and was gonna spring for maschine because I want to start producing/remixing. But i just saw ableton is releasing 9 and push in early march so I might just hold off on the maschine for now. The apc40 is a great cotroller for djineg but its not the all in one controller I thought it would be. AI prefer djing on turntables. But Adding the push controller is probably gonna be my next move. Any thoughts on adding push to my bedroom setup? Right now i just have the apc and a midi keyboard in my bedroom.

i don't see the benefit of using push for production. it would be useful if you were dj'ing or doing livesets on ableton, but it serves an entirely different purpose than a maschine

yes. it's a glorified ableton controller, nothing more.

Push is a new instrument that solves an old problem: how to make a song from scratch. With hands-on control of melody and harmony, beats, sounds, and song structure, Push puts the fundamental elements of music making at your fingertips - and it fits in a backpack alongside your laptop.

I just bought Ableton Live 8 (again) a few weeks ago, so I'll get the update to Live 9 for free when it's released next week. I'm still sorta on the fence regarding Push. It looks cool, but the reason that I bought live was to go with my new MacBook Air to be used as a VERY minimal scratch pad. Adding more peripherals sorta defeats the purpose, but it looks like a cool combo.

I haven't opened up Ableton or any other production software for about a year, but I'm kinda getting the itch for it again, so the timing seems to be working in favor of me getting the 9 + Push combo.

I kinda want another external synth too just for fun.

Well????

It's been out for hours now, where's all the buzz?

I'm stuck at work, so won't be able to check it out until later, but I may wait until Ableton's servers stop smoking before I try to download it anyway.

Liking a lot of what I've tried so far but I feel I haven't even scratched the surface yet of all that's new. Still gotta download a bunch of live packs. The suite is really stocked with sounds. I didn't have Max for Live before either so that's new for me too.

I think I just have to make a bunch of tracks and see how all the new stuff comes into play before I can really judge this new version. It's good though, that's for sure :)
