LP is perfect for that setting IMO. Great summery record.

I'm in LOVE with this edit of the Daughter cover of Get Lucky. For a while I was listening to the cover more than the original, and now THIS?! This would be an epic afternoon summer jam!

Got to say that it's pretty disappointing...not nearly as bad as human after all but nonetheless lacking anything that stands out as fresh or interesting (apart from the lead single, which I really like). Some of this disappointment may have resulted from the enormous hype they built up, but even then it just lacks the magic of some of their older work.

I can see what they were going for: a laid back 80's inspired funk house, with a less aggressive sound than say Discovery, a much slower BPM than most of their work, and heavy use of live instrumentation.

I guess my disappointment lies with the fact, aside from a couple tracks, the album sounds like a bunch of filler track throwaways from three decades ago. When it works like say in Get Lucky or Mother Board, its smashing and smooth. But for the most part, the insistent use of the vocoder vocals (even if it is considered DPs "signature sound") is tiring almost to the point of grating. Did they really need to use it for almost every track? And frankly, the album feels overproduced. It lacks the rawness and simplicity of their better work.

While there are some inspiring bits in some tracks here and there, however, taken as a whole, I just don't see myself listening to this album very much at all.

To be quite honest, I can't be bothered really with the new album (not listened yet), but more excited for a North American tour, with hopefully limited dates which includes Toronto like last time.

Seems nerdy, needy, elitist etc... but I would love for them to do a 4-6 city North American tour instead of a full on every state/province tour. Would totally take away the brilliance of it.

I still think seeing them last time in Toronto was one of my greatest musical memories if not the best concert/show ever!

i cant see how they can tour this new cd... unless they play live...

the new album is very sleepy...

i was very gung ho about traveling to see them... but after listening to the album... not so much anymore...

Don't they always play live when they tour? I've never heard of a Daft Punk 'DJ' tour...

This ain't their only album... half the Alive tour which I loved was all the Homework stuff! Not to mention they will make concert friendly edits just like they did for the Alive tour.

i know this isnt DPs only album... im not some newb to the scene, been at it for awhile, hell i started off w DP, Crystal Method, Westbam and The Prodigy way back in the 90s...

but they have significantly changed their sound to 70s/80s funk for this album... it doesnt fit w their electronic sound from albums past...

if they tour, im sure it will be a spectacle and a great time...
its great they are trying to be different...
i just didnt want different hence my disappointment...
i wanted more Tron DP... more Alive... hell, more electronic... :(

sorry double post...

Yeah, but imagine if the infuse this album with elements of previous elements. I'm sure they'll find a way to make a live tour interesting and fun.

I finally listened to it yesterday. Sure, it's not what I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it regardless. It's just as party as I was perhaps hoping or expected.

That being said... HOLY @ CONTACT!!!!! That's what I'm talking about, could have been from Homework if I didn't know any better!
