On the fourth release in its quickly expanding roster, Jyre Records gives The House Cartel full license to commit a hostile takeover of the bass. The New York-based crew drops a throbbing low-end across the eight-minute effort, with an army of synthetic crickets buzzing around the White Rhino as it tramples around its cage. Deep bells shading the sides of a stomping beat, this rhino promises a wild ride in a mid-range, minimal-techno groover. The B-Side finds Duckhunter exploring much darker terrain in his murderous, nearly nine-minute re-edit. The Rhino's knocked the gate doors down and Duckhunter certainly does not let him take any prisoners - rough, analog synth leads build to multiple levels of distorted, reverb-driven highs and drops, banging through a mirror fun-house of grooves, and ending in one of the most unique fades you'll hear this year. Rounding out the remixes, Jyre label boss Sam Jaspersohn takes it back to basics with pure four-to-the-floor boom, dropping the White Rhino's hooves squarely upon your face with a hard-charging kick and bouncing bass line. Ideal for the buildup with its scaling groove and explosive break, Jyre's cooked up a techno jalapeņo popper, bursting in your ears, not in your hands.
