Soundcloud copyright claims

Rodri Santos
I've just received an inbox as follows:

quote:
We've been notified that one of your uploads, "Rodri Santos - 2º Aniversario Playtranceradio" may contain copyright content and we've disabled it. If you believe you do have permission to use this content, or that a mistake has been made, please go to http://soundcloud.com/settings/disputes. Please note that you've been sent an email about this to your registered email's inbox.

What i find strange is that this set is private because it hasn't been aired yet so i discard that someone has reported it. I fear that i can't upload my sets here anymore and that i'd have to move to mixcloud...

Anyone has received one of this?
Looney4Clooney
all your music is analyzed automatically. You can easily circumvent it by using ableton warp. Just change the key by about a whole tone.
Rodri Santos
That might work but i think all the tracks are pitched at some point and i mix without keylock, i think none of the tracks is at it's retail speed hence the pitch is not 100% as it should. Should mess a machine already but it isn't... if this happens again i'll try warping it a 3% or so

Making a mix for non commercial use should fall under fair common use. Soundcloud blows chunks.

Yeah, I received some similar emails today, myself. Gonna have to look for a new place to upload mixes. Damn shame - Soundcloud was ing awesome when it first came out. Then they just made it worse and worse.

It's not like they can do anything against this copyright BS. If your site gets big enough to be relevant, the copyright "holders" have you by the balls.

And yeah, the new UI sucks but you can still use the old one.

Mixcloud is a good alternative, they let you have infinite upload hours. You can only upload mixes though and there's not the same community of DJs/labels/artists as on soundcloud.
Rodri Santos
what i fear is that mixcloud becomes the new soundcloud, it will surely grow and when it becomes relevant this will happen again and we'll have to move to another new site... i loved soundcloud is just that since last 2 years everything they've done is either unuseful or worse.
Terrence Parker
It always was the first track in my case, seems they only scan the first 9 minutes or so...

First track is Ascension-Someone, this is from 1997, are you telling me that they removed my mix because a 1997 vinyl?¿?

You can't use the old one (UI). I ain't seeing that option anymore.

You can. Go to https://soundcloud.com/premium?ref=top and click on 'more'.

By the way, I just saw they changed their subscription model. You now get unlimited hours for 99 a year. Might get a subscription now.
Rodri Santos
if you can't upload mixes anymore my 13 hours is enough, thats roughly 160 tracks (more if you just upload 2-3 mins for previewing) i think you can hardly make 160 tracks in a life so their subscription model... sucks.

I know is not their decission but this will hurt their business.
