Cool outboard FX

I'm not talking about big money Eventides or Bricasti's, but more affordable stuff you can pick up for not much more than plugin money.

So far I've bagged a PCM80 for £350, and I'm on the hunt for a TC Fireworx for about £300 too. I recall them being about £1500 new not so long ago, but they're half that now.

I really don't know that much about what's available, but I've heard good things about the older DP2/4 reverb units so I'll look for those too, and also I wouldn't mind finding a dedicated delay unit too.

If I was in the market for a dedicated h/w delay, I would look no further than a TC Electronics D-Two.

Good call :)

I'm so glad a proper person answered and didn't suggest a guitar pedal.

The plebs.

I managed to decipher your cunning code

That's drastically retro, and I approve.

There have been many times that I've considered buying another rack and filling it with TC Electronics units. Nice units for the money.

A live engineer friend of mine had a Yamaha multi-FX unit back in the day that he swore by (and got incredible live FX with), and I think it may have been the same one that Richard recommended.

It's just so cheap these days it's ridiculous.

I'll probably get a quadraverb just because, and I just noticed that Vermona do a rack spring reverb unit for £250. More flavour.

or a bunch of guitar pedals.
Or design your own with a G2 nord modular.

No idea why you would waste money on something when a plugin exists for it. Things like hardware delay , reverb save a bricasti are just idiotic and only serve a purpose for live use. Even then , they are a dying breed, They just don't serve a purpose.

The only thing software doesn't quite do as well is amp and distortion sims. Dont' see why you would buy anything but what hardware does better.

I mean the D 2 ? You really want to spend money on something that hasn't changed in about 11 years that only has a stereo in/out ?

Plugins destroy these machines.
Deal with you GAS because these are some ing stupid ideas of things to buy. And don't start talking about workflow. They are so ing cumbersome, the only reason one might buy them is as I said, live or just stupid and want to look like their rack has something expensive in it.

sometimes i wonder what the you people eat for cereal sometimes.

Step away from your keyboard, take a deep breath and look around your room.

I'm buying them because I want to buy them. They please me. I like to touch them and use them. They look cool, they sound cool and they make me feel better about myself.

And I will never buy a G2. I don't want a G2. I never will.

That is all.

THe ones that do, are out of your budget so i really don't ing get your methodology other than you are just another person that likes to talk about buying they will never use.
