Original Mix...

Damn - my longest track ever. It keeps expanding throughout so if you have the patience please listen to the entire track. If not I understand... but at least skip the the last several minutes. Thats where everything comes together!

The drum beat in this track turned out excellent. It was actually an accident, I was goofin' off with one of the kicks (the first one that comes in) - it had a few snare like properties so I deviated from the traditional 4/4 kick template for that sample... then I found a nice, more traditional, mellow kick and gave it the natural 4/4 pattern and the two kicks blended together perfectly. The track was built around that.

Additionally, while trying to create the synth that plays the arpeggio (comes in around the middle - the one with the flanger and the LFO on the filter) I tweaked one of the synths to sound like some sort of "Laser" (not sure how else to explain) - it kind of sounds like that sound from the drum beat of that 80's Baltimora song "Tarzan Boy" - anyway - I stuck in into the drum beat after giving it its own little pattern to follow. You can't even tell its part of Zebra rather than a sample. (A first for me - Synth based percussion.... well I've made noise snares before but those are pretty simple...)

I've been working at a hardware store that always plays 70's on 7 or 80's on 8 and I've taken a liking to a lot of the tracks from that time period. I've already mentioned the Baltimora influence, additionally with the piano around 3 minutes in I was going for the same feel from that song called "December 1963 by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.

Anyway, thanks for listening!
