I'm thinking about getting external controlling devices either usb or midi ( actually they do both , at least the ones I'm looking at )

I would be using it only with soft synth apps, and things that could use external controllers ( trying to get the stuff done a little more easilly )

any suggestions about what to pick ? and if you know of others that I haven't listed, please tell me !

( I hope this topic wasn't discussed before :p )

Midiman Oxygen8 USB MIDI Controller

Key fax phat boy midi controller ?

Encore Electronics Knobby Programmable MIDI Control Surface ?

Doepfer Pocket Dial MIDI Controller

Doepfer Pocket Control MIDI Controller

and for beats ( can't afford an MPC 2000 :stongue: :stongue: + I tend to try to do complexe beats ( I try to do stuff outside of trance ) :
Akai MPD16 USB Midi Pad Control Unit
( don't know of many beat pads controllers .... got any suggestions ? )

I really like the Doepfer stuff, I know their hardware owns big time, but my concern is, theirs no one that really knows about external controllers .... you have any suggestions on which one to pick ?
( oh and I don't want to spend more then 200 dollars ..... ( the akai things is 300 , but the rest of the stuff is 200 )
( if you got suggestions on stuff that's a little more expensive, give them to me, and explain why they're better :) I really want to know )

M-Audio Oxygen8, dat's fo sho'.

then choose either...

Waveidea BitStream Pro

(8 faders, 32 knobs, 8 buttons)

or Tascam US-428 if you can't get that BitStream Pro.

(8+1 faders, 4 knobs, 16+ buttons)

i've tried the US-428 at a store. it feels like a toy 'cos it's made of plastic, and the knobs, faders and buttons aren't really robust. as a controller for a dozen of my softsynths, i doubt it'll withstand my abuse. also it doesn't have enough knobs, so my money is on BitStream Pro.
Dj Thy
Look at www.evolution.co.uk too, they got some good stuff (I'd recommend their keyboards over the midimans even).
