They're just the catchiest producers in dance music. I say that in a good way. They do catchy dance music right. They have their own distinct sound... sort of a blend of disco, funk, electro, house and a little bit of trance to make truly original music.

best way to describe them for sure
they arent my fav guys to listen to, some of their stuff is not really my cup of tea but they do make some good music overall
their live shows look pretty intense also

You know this for fact? You go around actively asking people to name off their discography? I know a lot of people who like Daft Punk.. even people who aren't really big fans can name more than one song. They are very popular and their albums have done very well. It's very accessible dance music and their shows are supposedly on the same level as The Chemical Brothers.
Daft Punk and Justice were the artists that got me into electronic music, they were the stepping stones into dance music. I think a lot of people feel the same way. They are overhyped because they don't go on tour much, only come out with an album every few years and everybody claims every year that they will be at Coachella, Ultra etc etc and then they aren't. It has nothing to do with the quality of music it's just that they are a hard act to catch.
