I see Avalon and Exchange from LA.
For Avalon they incorrectly refer to its previous name as Playhouse instead of Palace.
For the Exchange I wonder how Max Vangelli made it to the most successful DJs.
Has anyone gone to the Exchange back in '04? I remember going there twice, one was a Jon Bishop event. |

XS doesn't belong in the top 1000.
For such a profitable club, they have one of the worst sound systems on the planet. |

No, that is correct. Avalon used to be called Playhouse long before being called The Palace.

I had never heard that. And on Avalon's website they say the building was named Hollywood Palace in the 60's. |

"The Hollywood Playhouse
Originally known as The Hollywood Playhouse, 1735 Vine St. opened for the first time on January 24, 1927.[1] It was designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style by the architectural firm of Gogarty and Weyl."

Names that building has been over the years. There were times when it was completely closed so the dates aren't entirely accurate (eg. Owners of Avalon bought it on 2002, but didn't open until 2004 after restoration was complete). Owner of The Palace bought it '78, but didn't open it until '82 after restoring it then as well).
The Hollywood Playhouse (1927 - 1935)
The WPA Federal Theatre (1935 - 1942)
The El Capitan Theatre (1942 - 1963)
The Jerry Lewis Theatre (1963 - 1964)
The Hollywood Palace (1964 - 1978)
The Palace (1978 - 2004)
Avalon (2002 - current) |

Avalon is deserving! Love that club.
Exchange is a nice club inside... but the sound echoes and makes me deaf... Need to invest in earplugs going there [Which I should be doing anyway]. No so fond of the crowd there either *shrug*. Reminds me of my college days.
Damn can't wait to hit all those in the Top 10 this Summer in Ibiza to give a real good comparison =D. |

I thought avalon was in hollywood?
Just looked up the W address, said hollywood as the city, so unless city limits are in that 2block radius....
Exchange was highest ranked club in los angeles. |

Hollywood isn't a city, it's a neighborhood of Los Angeles. |
