Hi. I just got my hands on some money and I really want a new mixer. My problem is to decide whether to buy the pioneer djm 500 or 600. I spin trance ... dunno what I will be doing in the future. The 500 wast just bumped down to 1115 usd .. aproximatly. The 600 is priced at about 1442 usd. So, what do you guys think? Having used both, how much difference is there? The shopkeeper thought I should go for the 500 ... because in his opinion they were both nice and the 500 a fair bit cheaper.
hey cheggy
Ask yourself if you want a sampler, a cue-to-live fader and the two extra effects. Then ask yourself if you want to pay extra for it. That is the main difference, and i think the eq's cut more on the 600. I boils down to the samplr really.

I'd go the 500.

The difference between the DJM-500 and 600 is larger than people think:

*Eq on 500 is -20 and on 600 -26db
*The eq is also not as accurate on the 500 than the 600, if you look at the khz they cut at, the 600 has the standard khz rating
*500 has no record output which can be annoying
*600 has less redundant inputs and outputs than the 500
*600 has sampler and i think 2 extra effects (?)
*600 has the little "crossfader" knob and is VERY useful.. you can adjust the volume of each when heard together if you know what i mean
*500 doesnt have crossfader curves which do come useful on the 600

I would definately pay the extra $$$ for the 600.

If you've got the space and want all the extra's listed above for the 600, except for the fader, have a look at the DJM3000. It has 3 more effects than the 600, just missing the sampler. Don't know about where you are, but RRP here is Aus$600 (~US$300) less for the 3000 than the 600. I sometimes wish I wnet for the 600 cos of the sampler and since everyone seems to have it, then I look at the price difference and am glad I took the 3000.

sounds cool. Nah, don`t have the space ... AND ... the 3000 is WAY more expensive than the 3000. Don`t ask questions about it .. it`s just norway ... it`s just totally ed up. The djm 600 used to cost about 2000 USD here ... go figure =) Going to pick up a 600 today though ... weeeee
