Finding new tracks with SoundCloud

I've found that SoundCloud is a really easy way to discover new trance music. Just search for the trance tag and order by latest (requires switching to classic). Something new is uploaded almost every minute, and much of it is fairly good (note that I just found out I like trance a week or so ago).
Does anyone else do this? |

| I used to get a weekly email from them which summarized all the new stuff uploaded by ppl I was following, but they stopped doing that unfortunately. Although, I do need to get back in the habit of browsing around there again for new tunes. Lots of really awesome free stuff that a lot of people miss because its not tracked by beatport or the like. |

This may turn into a tangent, but what do you mean? Maybe you're satisfied with the library you've built up, but that's harsh. |

I don't find that a very good method why?
1.- A lot of people when they tag their tracks add: House, techno, tech, trance, hardcore, electro, armin van buuren, david guetta. And more often than not this is the kind of people you should avoid.
2.- Even if you find real trance tracks do you think you've made a pre-selection? No, great music represents a niche percentage of the total you'll have to listen to 100 tracks to find 3 really valuable ones.
3.- First results would be often disappointing, i don't know what's the criteria of the SC algoryhtm but probably apart from the latest tracks, followers, and existent plays take part on it, you'll see the results of the suckers that follow 10,000 people and have 3,000 followers first, instead of the underground producer with 400 active followers.
So in my opinion, to avoid this headache i find a better solution to find this underground producer and follow him to be uptaded with his new stuff. There's no magic method apart from being on a serious promo pool and following good labels/artists, if combined with some random but intelligent searches you could be updated with the best stuff from your favourite artists + some random guy you accidentally found that makes great music. |

Switch to classic (from the dropdown). Either go to http://soundcloud.com/tags/trance?order=latest, or click on Latest (right under "Explore / Tags / ").

In my experience, it's almost always trance-related. EDIT: I think that's the genre description, not the first tag.

Like you said, you could follow artists you like, but it takes time to find really good tracks (since you shouldn't just go by what's popular unless you want pop trance)

Most first-page tracks I see have less than three plays and were posted between 20 and 40 minutes ago. |
