Aural Imbalance - Legacy

I've been listening to the CD since December and it's a great listening experience; very deep space drum 'n bass. I don't listen to D&B mixes too much as it can lose direction after a while and this did not. It just came out digitally but the CD is mixed and gives you the journey experience plus access to the WAVs.

Did anyone else pick this up?

I just noticed this on Spotify yesterday. Will give it a listen as I'm a huge fan of Aural Imbalance / Deep Space Organisms.

More of a fan of his atmoshperic 4x4 work, but this is good listening nonetheless.

Cold Room was one of my favorites tracks last year. The remixes were decent and varied but I just stuck with the original. Is your mix available for listening?

He just released his Sunray EP which has DnB and Electronica.

I've had a listen now, and while this is pretty good it's nowhere near the level Aural Imbalance/DSO used to be. I feel a lot of Simon Huxtable's new productions, both drum 'n bass and progressive, is a lot more conventional and MOR than his older work, which was deeper and spacier than anything else being made. Room 2 Breathe is the track that comes closest to his old level, although the Orange 'N Blue Interplanetary Remix of Fibre Optic is absolutely lush, over on the single.

Deep Space Organisms had an EP out last year, by the way, simply entitled the Deep Space EP.

Were you able to listen to the mix format? It's the way it should be heard in my opinion. I haven't heard many DnB artists album but this was nice and spacey but felt really grounded with good direction. But if I had to choose some personal highlights I'd say, Recall, Icefields Of Proxima, Room 2 Breathe, and Into The Light.

You make a fair point about the conventionalism in the productions as his output has increased in recent years and taking less time between productions. The older stuff is just so deep and chilled out. The Interplanetary Remix of Fibre Optic is a good example of the older stuff.

The Deep Space EP really flew under my radar as they seem to make DSO tracks every blue moon. It's pretty much what I expected but in a good way. Out of the two, I find myself playing I've Seen Things more but both are just great examples of deep music. I'll have to say when I listen to their productions with a critical mindset, a lot of sections are re-used but it doesn't get repetitive for me.

Just a note, but Simon and Rupert Avis produced under the Idfomra name and made a few decent tracks/remixes. Check out Subliminal Frequency/The Singularity Effect if you haven't yet.

No, it's only available unmixed on Spotify, but I don't think it would massively alter my perceptions of the music. I've heard a lot of atmospheric drum 'n bass albums and I don't think this one is particularly special, in all honesty. Try hunting down this CD for an older taste of his drum 'n bass:

And I've actually had The Singularity Effect in my Hold Bin for about three years, but I never knew it was Huxtable.

I've been holding off on that hoping a seller from the US to list it. I only know Aqua:sition and Idiosyncrasy.

Could you recommend any DnB artist albums? Doesn't have to be limited to Atmospheric. I find myself listening to tracks more than listening to albums of this genre.

T. Power - Self Evident Truth Of An Intuitive Mind
Antibreak - Eleven Shades Of Night
ICR - Daytrip
Big Bud - Infinity + Infinity
ASC - The Sci Fi Files
(^ This is technically an EP series, but if you play them in order it makes for the most amazing, mind-blowing science fiction audio opus ever composed, in my fanboyish opinion.)
