Yeah, I saw that too. I think the event is on survival mode. The promoters are doing what they can to survive. Face it, there are not many hardcore edm fans. Most people don't care much about the opening DJs. They do respond to some auditory and visual stimulations, and stay on the dance floor. That was why the opening DJ played hard, and there were these sexy female duo DJs.
The way some people in SF handle this is that they hire some dancer to dance right in the middle of the floor during opening sets. They dance in a way that people feel comfortable to join in, not just to watch, like circle breakdancing. If people don't join in and participate, they will get bored after a while; it doesn't matter how spectacular the show is. I don't know if LA promoters have tried something like that, but it is pretty common in SF.

| It might have something to do with the Burningman culture. SF is very close to the site, and many folks go there every year. Instead of observing passively, people can participate as a way of having fun, which in turn can become a much better experience. |

Nothing really, just some irrelevant person that felt the need to aggressively criticize people and promoters that don't fulfill their criteria for fun. |
