Advanced HID mode and tempo adjustment

Hi there. I am using Traktor Scratch Pro 2 and CDJ2000s via advanced HID mode. I am having an issue when adjusting the tempo of a track and both decks are synced. For example I am playing a 138 BPM track on deck A. I mix in a 140 BPM track into deck b (and both decks are on sync mode). Once I've transitioned in if I use the tempo adjustment on deck b nothing happens. So long as deck a is still playing (even with the volume on the channel all the way down) I can only adjust the tempo for both decks via deck a. If deck a is stopped then I can adjust deck b via the tempo adjustment on CDJ b.
Fine but here's a bigger issue... Now deck b is the only deck playing and I want to slowly increase it to 140. I start to move the slider but because CDJ B was set at 0% tempo adjustment and the track is originally 140 BPM (but currently playing at 138) when I move the tempo adjustment ever so slightly it jumps to 140 immediately because 0% at 140 should be 140. The software isn't acting "smart enough" to recognize I want to tempo adjust from 138 (not from 140).
How do I resolve this?
Thanks,

I have never used the CDJ2000s in the manner you describe, but problem number 1 sounds like deck A remains the master. Now, you say about the volume being all the way down, are you on an external or internal mixer? If its external then theres not really much the software can do as it has no way of knowing you have faded out? You can manually make deck B the master without stopping deck A to get control back. I think there are ways to make Traktor switch masters a bit more automatically but in my experience its better to have some degree of control over it so you know what its doing!
The second problem you describe sounds like you need to enable "soft takeover" in the controller options screen for that control. Basically what that does is ignores any adjustments you make to the controller until you hit the point that the control is currently at in the software.
Like I say Ive never used the 2000s with Traktor so I could be talking guff but hopefully that points you in the right direction? |

| Yes that makes sense! But I don't see where to enable a "soft takeover" kind of feature within TSP2... :( |

I dont have Traktor installed on this computer, but its in the controller management part of the preferences. You have to enable it for the individual control, this is where my knowledge falls down as like I say ive never used the CDJs in HID mode so I dont know how the controls are assigned. If i were doing it for my X1 for example it would go to the Controller Manager part of the preferences, make sure the X1 was selected in the device drop down, find Pitch Control (or tempo fader, its called something like that) in the list and select it. Then hopefully in the options there should be a tick box for soft takeover.
Sorry I cant give you more precise instructions! |

Very close mate, thank you! When I do "soft takeover" that means I'd have to control the tempo only from Traktor. In the similar menu I highlighted "Tempo Adjust" and changed Interaction Mode from Direct to Relative and it fixed it.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I'm new to the whole Advanced HID thing...
