| Last year Ferry was playing "Give It To Them" and everybody thought it was his new single, but it turned out Festen's single. This year he played " The Bull" and everybody thought it's new Festen but it's eventually new Ferry Corsten single. So I'm pretty sure Festen is his new alias. I personally wish he'd release some new tracks under Embrace or Pulse. |

Ferry Corsten
I think he just wanted to make some different tracks without people flaming him for not making trance. It all kinda worked until Give it to them. |

festen. one of his more inventive aliases :stongue:
ferry still has talent. it's a shame he doesn't get to use it though.
i'd say COME BACK FERRY... but there is nothing to come back to.
while he veered off and done his electro experimentation, the entire trance scene turned into a turd. now he is like marooned on a desert island with nowhere else to go.
then again, didn't he pioneer this farty electro within the 'trance' scene? so maybe he's happy.
but i also wonder if he's really happy in himself, or if he'd like to start playing decent music again :conf:
i mean, back in the day sasha and digweed used to drop ferry records... can you imagine that today?! :eyes: (would be funny if it weren't so tragic) |

| There's a little chance that this Djs Ferry,Sander van Doorn etc... lose all the attention of the trance scene and no longer need to be commercial to stay relevant like happened to Sasha or Digweed and move to a serious genre or to real "trance" again but this is not likely to happen... Sasha or Digweed just evolved from a heavily techno influenced trance, Ferry's music has always been a bit electro for the last years, this was the logical Devolution. |

Yeah you can definitely hear tons of electro influences on the LEF album, and even further back, Right of Way (especially Punk). I wish he'd do more freestyle/synthpop/italo influenced stuff like "It's Time" or "We Belong" again. |

| Ferry has been always doing diff styles, and I don't mind him doing elctro trance at all, Sweet Sorrow, Heart Connected, even Take Me, all have electro influences in them and sound great and unique. I personally was disappointed with WKND bc it was more of a pop album, barely any Trance or descent Electro stuff in it. I wish WKND had more tracks like Take Me in it. |

well if you look back, the scene has always been evolving. whether in actual style, genre or production technique/values - so it is definitely going to be moving on again.
especially when you consider that the current audience is casual. half of them or more will off and listen to some other fad. the rest will mature and go deeper into dance music.
question is, what will the djs do.
a resurgence of good music, by once-great djs is not out of the question. it would just need to fall into place naturally.
look at max graham. he used to be great, he first few cycles CDs were lush, deep, progressive and uplifting.
now he's stuck doing that above and beyond dull farty gash.
the scene will evolve. question is, do these djs get even worse to stay 'relevant', or start doing something decent again.
even tiesto used to be great. nyana and sunrise 3 are testament to this. though i don't think he'll 'be back'. he's a glory hunter and loving to limelight in cheeseland.
the rest either must have the soul sucked out of them, or are just happy to spin sub-standard music to make a considerable pay cheque. |
