Being a CD collector this is really starting to get on my ! u buy / order a cd of a track u like, to support the artist and enjoy collecting music and they dont even put the damn original mix on half of them!

Jurgen Vries - The Theme - Original Mix not on cd
Dumonde - Can U Dig It? - Original Mix not on cd
4 Strings - Diving - Well i ordered cd1 and thats just wank, i didnt no there were 2 cd's and cd1 is awful, not even a version without vocals!

Is there a reason for this? i find it offense in a way, that artists/record companies moan about the MP3, and sales, but when u do buy their products, they dont even include what youre buying it for!

Btw most my cd's i order off the net, if i new they didnt have it on in the shop i wouldnt buy them :p
abracadabra
Really annoys me too mate, im convinced its just another way of ripping us off.
DJ NEILSON
u ever heard of importing stuff?!?! christ you must be crazy to buy UK releases on cd!?!?!?

check my cd list of maxi's out
HERE i only buy UK releases if they are exclusive to the UK. Imports are the same price, and shipping is minimal if you buy a bunch of singles.

The reason cd singles are so lame in the uk, is ocs of the lame CIN. read HERE fpr the rules on UK releases.

you said the 4 strings cd sucked, well yes it did.. check out the liquid recordings cd...

4 Strings - Diving (Maxi CD, 2002, Liquid Recordings, cat#LQCDM26) £4.30

Diving (Radio Edit) (3.39)
Diving (Original Vocal Mix) (6.55)
Diving (Hiver & Hammer's Different Gear Remix) (9.24)
Diving (Original Mix) (7.00)
Diving (Cosmic Gate Vocal Mix) (7.49)
Diving (Minimalistix Vocal Mix) (7.00)

and now compared to the lame uk release...

4 Strings - Diving (CD, 2002, Virgin/Nebula, cat#VCRD108) £2.99

Diving (Vocal Radio Edit)
Diving (Minimalistix Vocal Mix)
Into The Night (RMB Vocal Remix)

very as you can see. ive got over 600 cd's now and the majority are from outside the UK. its all lame. to make matters worse they include 1 min of into thte night thts as well. and i already had it on the previous liquid cd...

4 Strings - Into The Night (MAXI CD, 2002, LIquid Recordins) £4.30

Vocal Radio Mix
Original Radio Mix
Original Vocal Mix
4 Strings Remix
RMB Vocal Mix
Symphony Of Strings Remix
Original Mix

then add the spinnin records cd release and you get the coast 2 caost adn the chillout mixes to for £3. seriously, IMPORT!

when I saw this thread I thought it was about tracks that didn't have any version called the "original mix".. like Solar Stone - Seven Cities.. guess that would make another good thread.
Civic
i was thinking about the same - and Seven Cities was the one I thought about, too :)

Because of the 20 minute CIN rule they have to edit nearly all the tracks if it's a dance record on CD to fit enoug tracks onto it. What many labels such as Nebula often do is stick the Radio Edit of the original and put 2 remixes on. I've no idea why, maybe they think there's more demand to hear remixes?

I've not bought any UK release CD's in a long time because £4 (which they usually are) is a hell of a lot of money to pay for something with only 3 tracks usually. I remember the good old days when you used to get 5 or 6 tracks on a CD and full 12" mixes but even then they had a 40 minute rule.

When they say that MP3's are killing the music industry, CIN should sit and have a good think about what they are doing because the 20 minute rule is going to do nothing but persuade people to download MP3's instead of wasting their money on a CD with 3 tracks on it.

Good Point.

Mystery, alot of the time i order my cd's off the net and cant few the tracklist!

Neilson, where u get all them imports from?

DJ Dowlz
OMG that English 20min single rule is incredibly stupid. You pay a fairly decent amount of money for one song and then they edit all the mixes! And you don't even get the original! That just doesn't make sense, especially if you're a DJ.

Try www.cdzone.co.uk - they usually state whether the CDs are imports or not. Unfortunately they do not stock, so items are sometimes unavailable although the site doesn't say so.
