Review: Dash Berlin @ Echostage - Washington, DC

I haven't written a review on TA in a long ass time. And obviously this will be biased because I'm reviewing my own party but I don't care.

Dash was ing AWESOME last night. As a fan, I firmly believe Echostage to be superior to any regular club venue in NY. The warehouse vibe, the ease of entry, the fact that the only people who complain about security are people who get too hammered and do something stupid and don't remember why they got kicked out so they blame the yellow jackets.

The views from those mezzanines, the fact that it's one solid ass room. The LED wall and booth, the production, the lasers (that we will only expand on) and the fact that the place is still not even close to being done.

Oh... and the fact that Dash played such an uber trancey set from 1-3:55ish was ing awesome. It was so awesome that I'm actually sitting here and writing a ing review.

I'm telling you guys - pick a show, pick any show and come down to DC. I'll buy any TAs a few drinks.

But ya... sooooo trancey I stomped like a mother******!!!!!! eek! it was dope :)

Was it recorded? I'm curious from all your excitement if he actually turned out a trance set or if you are a little biased because of the company you had at the show. Good company can make all the difference ;) Glad you and T had so much fun.

I did notice from your pics he is rapidly losing his hair... I was joking around yesterday that since he is the 'face' of Dash Berlin that once he loses his good looks they'll just replace him with one of the backup guys :p Ca$h Berlin 4lyfe.

heard a different review about this party in line with a 1X experience i've had, and until i hear different, it might be the only time. to put the comments in context, the review came from one of dash berlin's greatest fans, who trekked not from New York but from BOSTON on BUS for this party, and has a history of loving and supporting glow parties, and he's originally from DC.

highlights:

1) sound up front is so bassy you can't even hear vocals
2) sound in back is all echo and there are no speakers anywhere to be found except the front
(ha, echostage a good name for that isn't it)
3) an extremely pushy/shovy vicks vaporub crowd

i keep posing the same question every time i find myself compelled to comment on a glow at echostage topic - how do you think you can run the biggest dance party in a city in a ing massive room without surrounding that floor with proper sound? sound is and always will be the most key element to a good dance party. highlights #1 and #2 are a joke for any dance music focused venue.

but please, let's all go down to the number 38 edm club concert warehouse venue in the world ASAP for a night to remember!

glow's move from fur to the status quo has been the worst change i've experienced in the dc dance music scene since 2000.

eh, Fur ing sucked, the line sucked, the security sucked, the crowd sucked. I'm glad to be rid of it.

People treated you like soulless money cattle in that place, no respect.

This is the glow era that booked Dj Pauley D among other things

I read the whole first post and believe it to be a lie

edit: damn, after reading the rest I guess I hit home pretty close. lol

talking about how much Fur sucked doesn't make the new "number 38 club concert venue in the world" any more tolerable. first of all, what the is a club concert venue? a dance club is a dance club. a concert venue is a concert venue. the two are not the same and never will be.
so the warehouse appeal of this place is entirely lost.

for the record i never liked Fur either, but i enjoyed certain parties there - AT LEAST it had proper club sound and on occasion, good djs came through.

the sound is the sound is the sound. you can love or hate everything else about a place, but sound is first and foremost for any dance music lover, and if the sound is as horrid as it is at this place, no amazing DJ can save the vibe.

let's not forget as we are ripped off with this crap sound at the new place surrounded by an overpacked room with fights breaking out repeatedly, filled with what looks like kiddies escaped an edm festival and entered a room in tanktops and shorts with vaporub and neon ammo galore, the prices are also usually way higher than past glow days too.

but i stick with my focus on the sound. if they can't get that right, it's not even worth being there for free if you're passionate about any DJ who you're trying to see there. bad sound wrecks a party without any saving it. the end.

I thought the sound at Fur was pretty awful both times I went...

Sorry but Dash Berlin and trance go about as well together as sandpaper and toilet paper. If he even played one Dash-Up, which I'm sure he did and actually played multiple of those abortions, it was not trance. Yes, you can say "Well everyone likes it!" While that is true, everyone loves McDonalds but that doesn't make it a 30 point Zagat rated restaurant.

No amount of free alcohol will persuade me to come see Dash Berlin.
