What is everyone's take on this label? I know it gets a lot of hype and attention. For me personally I'm still deciding what to make of it. I'm seeing comments like "best release of 2012" for this record here:

http://www.discogs.com/Delroy-Edwar...release/3830989

I have it and although I think its cool I'm not sure what is getting everyone so excited over it. Wondering if this label's music is something that I just dont have the appropriate context for yet? The label as a whole is raw, analog, and retro-ish. Is this label going to stand the test of time or is it a label that is simply in the right place at the right time?

There was actually a L.I.E.S. label party here in Toronto a couple months back. I heard it was pretty awesome; I had other plans that night so couldn't make it.

Not sure if it's worth the hype though.

I only like about 20% of the stuff on that label

Steve Moore - Frigia is a tune and a half, been listening to it on repeat all weekend. I like a bit of the stuff on the label, and it's certainly nice to see some sort of electronic music representation from the island.
Rodri Santos
judging the track you posted i think "best release of 2012" is too much, has something, probably does what the title glimpses in a club but nothing really special. Maybe it's not my kind of stuff. I agree with the retro thing, both tracks sound like 80s stuff.

It's definitely not the best track of 2012.

Yea I'm not sure what got everyone so geeked up over this release. Its a solid 4 star record, can't see anything about it that is standout or 5 star worthy

We had a thread about this a while ago but I can't find it anymore. But yeah, really overhyped label IMO. This whole low-fi trend is getting really tiresome as a whole anyways.

I have the Mutant Beat Dance single, and two others on my wantlist - the collector/speculator pricing on Discogs is a tad annoying, but such is the nature of the beast. I don't like everything on the label - some of the output is pretty middling - but the releases I do like are outstanding.

This track introduced me to L.I.E.S. and is still my favorite on that label.
