You might want to look into Baclofen, at least if you're actually serious about wanting to stop. Probably harder to get a prescription here in the U.S., though.
In general, AA does not appear to be very effective. But maybe it will work for you. |

| I don't think AA works because it encourages complete abstinence from whatever substance. It's much easier to just learn limits/self control. |

Well, yeah, one of the core assertions of AA is exactly that there is a certain kind of person, the "addict", who simply cannot learn limits or self-control when it comes to drugs. Not sure if I buy that, but then I haven't been addicted to anything... |

Maybe, one of my good friends here used to be a heroin addict. He went to rehab, never AA, and has never touched it since. He does, however, seem to just replace that addiction with others, whether it be alcohol, benzos, etc. |
