I think the "Special One" would've been the better choice, but good luck David... GGMU

He'll run the team into an abyss.

The Special One is going to end up at Chelsea. It'd take a catacylsmic screwup to drive MU into the ground but with City buying the world and Chelsea picking things up lately they probably won't be as dominant as they were earlier this season.

WHOAAA !!!! where did that come from ?

How did they buy the league ? by scoring and winning games?

You Mad Bro ? are you one of these?

Anyhoo... I think the first 2 months will be critical for David Moyes.

It will be tough since he's never won any trophy or play in CL

Don't worry, I'm not a United fan. :stongue:

Don't even care much for the EPL but I've got a strong distaste for Manchester City for spending a hell of a lot of money that the team didn't even have in order to bring the biggest names to the club. At least United and Chelsea had a decent revenue stream.

Of course there's not really much of a chance for an EPL team to reach the level of United or Chelsea without massive owner investment. All for Financial Fair Play.

United did not "buy the league". All their money is generated by the commercial revenue of the business and they do not borrow any money to buy players. United can afford to pay £24million for a player and give him huge wages because they are an extremely successful business. City and Chelsea can only afford to do that because they have rich owners, and that probably won't go on for much longer with the introduction of FFP.

As for Moyes... He is a very good manager, but managing a mega-club like United is a different ballpark to a club like Everton. There is a whole added layer of pressure and responsibility, plus significantly altered expectations. We saw Roy Hodgson completely fail at Liverpool despite having done very well at smaller clubs. There's no way of knowing how Moyes will cope until he's been in the job for a season or two. It's all a steep learning curve for him in the meantime.

When Ferguson took over United, they spent more than Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham (top 4 at the time) COMBINED! to bring their squad up. Currently, they own a 500million dollar debt. Having that debt, and spending 24mil to buy Arsenal is "buying the league" and rag fans are just hypocrites.

FFP is DEAD. A team like City is already on the right track increasing revenue by each year and cutting debt in half each year. A French team like PSG will never be touched by Platini with his bias. A german team has already filed a lawsuit claiming its an illegal move according to EU law (and it is). All FFP is doing is keeping the already established teams secure at the top. There wont be any chances for other teams to have miracle stories like Manchester City. Whats wrong with billionaries (be they russian, indian, arab, asian) buying small clubs and turning them competitive? No lets just keep the top 4 the same every year and in most cases only top 2 teams in a league.

In the end, all I'm trying to say is this thread sucks. Ta!
