Could be interesting. Some of their other plugins are quite good.

This demo makes me not want to get it

I hope they don't lock the developer engine like they do with Nexus. In fact I wonder if you can put your own samples into it at all?
Artsacoustic reverb built in though. Tasteh.
Looney4Clooney
i doubt it will allow scripting. I think it will be more a battery type sampler.

@1:15 - "Drag and drop your samples from external sources" Sounds like you can use your samples to me, but they could have been more explicit.
Something tells me that this thing will be ridiculously overpriced, though.
Looney4Clooney
doubt it
they just took metrum, and made it a full fledge sampler. Probably same price as their other ones.

It'd have to be from developer and licensing costs alone I would imagine.
My guess is €399/$499

Content cost as well. That's where they love to fleece people.
Looney4Clooney
true. Ya i can just see the expansion packs now. But that is probably a reason to price the actual sampler at a reasonable price ?
I just don't see most noobs paying for a sampler which is the type of person most of their products attract. Nexus probably does all their sales at christmas and the person's bday. Nobody is actually buying that with their own money .

Lmao, Birthday gifts. Although it's probably true.

The demos may feature dubstep, but it's obviously not limited to dubstep. C'mon, haven't you guys figured out that audio demos and presets don't define what you can do with an instrument yet? :conf:
BTW, Manuel posted some more info on gearslutz:

We startet development over 2 years (!) ago, and it was supposed to be a little small basic sampler, with focus on great workflow, to be released 2011. But I bombarded Rene with tons and tons of features and new ideas. Most of them were my personal long time dream features for my sampler usage as a producer. It were 2 hard years with much of work, but I am very happy, that we invested the time for an excellent product, instead of going for a quick one. We will be releasing 10 videos soon, which will show all the features slowly and in detail.
btw: Phalanx is not only for Dubstep...
and yes, its not a closed system like Nexus, its "open" for sound design

no its not made for multisampling at all, its concept is more like battery or geist (drums, drumkits or crazy effect sounds). We did not want to make a second Nexus. So 16 pads, where each can hold 2 samples (32) and 16 midi channels and 16 stereo outs should be really enough. If not you can add single pads with the included Phalanx single version
