sonar 2 xl has a more than decent one, timeworks compressor x but i dont know very good vsti's
Theotrope
for FX workhorses - you cant go wrong with WAVES

for synths: here are my faves (in no particular order), and their standout features

Native Instruments Pro-53
the re-vamped version of the Pro52, now comes with a highpass filter as well, and a completely reworked synthesis engine.. quality is up a whole lot. New Presets have been made as well, and many are actually usable! (backward compatibility with pro52 presets included)

- more will be edited in later, i have to go
DC-
Here's some good synths.

Delta III
Absynth
Pro53
Junglist
Plex

Hmm, VSti

1. Absynth (this baby rox, very versatile, good sounding)
2. FM7
3. Reaktor (when handled right)
4. Pro 52/53 (can't really compare them, they sound differently)
5. Virsyn Tera
6. Waldorf Attack (great for drums)

There I really stop my ranking, there are other good ones, but in no particular order : Lounge lizard, Muon Tau Pro, Reason's Subtractor and Maelström, reFx slayer...

as for effects, the whole Waves package of course :)
But for delays, I'd say the best one is PSP Lexicon 42
For reverb, the Timeworks Reverb plugins are killer (both quality and cpu hogging :), especially ReverbX. Silverspike reverb-it is nice also.

Overall mastering, Waves again, or izotope Ozone.
