It's music that is universally appealing. It has a style (hip-hop, rock, dance, etc...) but has been robbed of anything unique or niche appealing. In an attempt to get as big an audience as possible artists/producers/bands/and the morally bankrupt remove anything that is truely unique, and consequentialy the music sounds simple - cheeze.
If you are into a particular style, and can tell sublties of that music apart, then the cheez becomes really annoying because it all looks like a great undestinguishable grey mass... no definition
