I haven't heard a lot of new albums this year, but by far the best thing I've come across thus far is Space Dimension Controller's debut. By packaging loving restorations of classic '80s dance music inside a gigantic, self-aware love letter to the cult sci-fi of the same era, Welcome To Mikrosector-50 doesn't so much push my buttons as hammer furiously on them like a teenage kid going for the ultimate high score on a Galaxians arcade cabinet. It joins the previously unexpected dots between The Soulsonic Force, Alien Storm and Total Recall in a fittingly arch manner, managing to be a hell of a lot more fun than most of the staid reverential citations of Chicago and Detroit you hear every man and his cybernetic dog churning out these days. Be warned though: ensure you have tongue firmly lodged in cheek before pressing play, as some of the vocal skits and sound effects will surely be unbearably cheesy to those of you who were tragically born without a sense of humour.

Didn't like too much of the album to be honest, but the track you posted and Rising are very nice:

Very impressed by the work he's done here, not your regular electronica album by far. Confusion on the Armament Moon is probably my favourite track.

Yeah, I wanted to post that one as my video example, but it's not on Youtube for some reason.

That second track is pretty cool! I like this retro-futuristic space funk!
Off topic: About a year ago you posted a track in one of the big threads in the COR (pictars I guess). It was some kind of music video, where a female japanese doll/robot was made alive moving to the beats of some nice techno. Can you please post that link again? I can't find the original post.

Alright, finally giving this a go. I've been a fan since he started putting stuff out a few years back, but I hadn't sat down with this yet. It's nice, lots of groovy textures, and the narrative schtick is actually pretty entertaining. Does well to glue everything together.

This was a pretty damned good album, and on par with what I've come to expect from him. I'd love to see him live again; caught him early in the morning in Detroit a few years back, right on the water, and he did nothing but kill it for two hours.
