I've got stuff from the early 2000s that sounds like that. And yeah, dull as dry dishwater. (??)

Wonder why chap went with that minimal stuff tho'? Full-on could use just as much of a piss-take.:p

I find it hilarious that people love to bash trance more often than some of the other genres for being formulaic. I am pretty sure every genre suffers from this but people seem to pick on trance more often these days. No one loves to pick on ty tech house or some deep house track or some progressive house track or some bull electro house track which is more formulaic than trance is.

How many have copied the deadmau5 chord progression? How many copied the sasha and digweed sounds? How many use that trouse car alarm noise? How many have copied the deep house sound? How many have copied the disco sounds? Do you see where I am going with this? Generic will exist no matter which genre you go to whether it be psytrance or house.

And no, this is not a troll post.

actually, you can find some videos bashing electro. and you will never see a video bashing the banco de gaia stuff etc

the point is: there is no point! the video is just funny, and that's all

ps: MCPROG 4EVER

I only agree with #6, I honestly hate those offbeat basslines in present day Psychedelic music. Funny how this video is bashing everything that makes Psy what It is, if you were to remove all the elements mentioned here then what would "Psy Trance" be?... Cheerios.

I know what the point of the video was.Whilst very true, this sort of thing can be applied to every genre if you try and dissect it like this video has. Formulaic beats and synths are very common in music today and have been common and overused ever since the dawn of time.

how does one not like triplets :( ?

LOLOL

Even though I LOVE psytrance I couldn't help but to laugh about this :D

Oh and by the way - I FIXED #3 on my Trance podcast because on my breaks there is speech samples but about SOMETHING!

I mix trance with the wisdom of authors, speakers and entrepreneurs like Ken Blanchard, Zig Ziglar, Steve Jobs, Martin Luther King and many others :)

You can listen to it at http://therabbitway.com/podcast

Innovative? Almost none of those things were present (let alone so rampant) in the '90s. I do actually think there is some very innovative psy being made, especially when you include the billions of mutations, cross-genres and experiments, but the majority of the stuff you actually hear is just silly stompy ravey-rave music, which is what this video expertly snipes off.

SPANIARD
Should be renamed 'Why Iboga and co have gone to '. Prog psy has gone this route (overly commercial) but like System mentioned, there is still a lot of innovative Psy coming out.

I don't know why this even gets called "prog-psy". It's about as prog as all that hideous big room blare-house that Beatport calls "prog house".
