+1 on The XX and The Jezabels. The Jezables have a pretty sweet drummer

Diiv - love their sound

Mumford & Sons

SO HIPSTER
Joss Weatherby
Cat Power is awesome.

Also love Azure Ray. Some of the bands on Team Love are good, though not a fan of ing Connor Oberst.

RE: VAMPIRE WEEKEND had one good album, I watched 'em on SNL the other night...pathetic.

They're either in need of better drugs or they're simply a 'studio band'.

I'll just pick 3 'recent-ish' tracks that seem to have stuck with me over the years. I also like heavy guitar riff-based rock and lyrics I can sing along badly to if I'm going to listen to it.

She Wants Revenge - Red Flags And Long Nights
They have this retro-80's goth rock sound which I can't quite pin down to being somewhere between Bauhaus and New Order.

Placebo - The Bitter End
Despite the singer (desperately) needing a hug, so much passion in the singing its a bit hard not to be moved. As a band they work really well.

Stupid Girl - Garbage
Ok, so I had a girl-crush on Shirley when I was growing up... despite being called Shirley, Scottish and a bit ginger :o Fantastic band.
