For people asking how to get certain sounds: Ableton convert audio to midi feature (pg. 2)

Where is the creativity in copying anything at all? Lol

Just converted move for me. Sounds pretty good to me...

I never said the notes were accurate. I said it created a similar virtual instrument which would be helpful for someone trying to hijack a sound. It's not perfect but I found it pretty interesting.

There are YouTube videos showing how to do it properly. Some tips I remember off hand: don't warp the track. The smaller the clip the better (if you try to do a whole song it isn't accurate). Cut out a part of the song that contains only the sound youre trying to get.

There is convert harmony, melody, and drums. Melody just gives you notes. Never tried drums. Harmony gives you notes and the virtual instrument.

ive found it works pretty well. it's not 100% perfect though, but will get you pretty close. a basic understanding of harmony and scale theory should help you delete notes that dont fit. then experiment a little and you should be able to find it.

No, I understand completely, I guess I just see the future of this. I just hope it doesn't promote laziness.
I actually find it intriguing and have tried it multiple times without success. I will however try the small parts trick to see.

I don't know, maybe 95% of the rest of a track?

Don't Imitate, Innovate. So copy first.
:wtf:

the point is that you learn nothing by doing this. You are still completely hopeless and unless you just want to make ty remixes for the rest of your life, perhaps learn by ear so that you aren't a ing slave to some ty algorithm that spits out bogus midi data.

Test track here. I am sure you guys can figure out what "hook" this is from. Tried a small test knowing that my piano tones would show up in the midi clip on the harmony, then tried melody. Sorry...aint worth the effort..I can play that on my keys faster than converting

Why use arpeggiators or sequencers or computers at all? Some musicians look at what we're doing and shake their heads. Why don't they play their own drums. Why do they use a bunch of loops? Techno sucks. Lol. To each his own. Most of us take advantage of technology and use it to improve things. There will always be people hating on it. And then 5 years later, they are doing the same exact thing they were hating on. Cdjs, Serato, midi. Some embrace it. Some hate on it and embrace it once they realize it's better/useful or whatever. I think convert to midi is an amazing feature. Not even for hijacking. You can convert your own works to midi and the possibilities are endless when u think about it...

That's bad. Here are my two results. I'm sure you'll recognize the first clip, followed by Live 9's attempt at 0:28. Then, I thought I'd make it easier for Live 9 by using the opening piano chords from the acoustic/piano version (0:56) and the results were even worse (1:12). WTF?

The problem with relying on these tools is that they don't work very well, as evidenced by the examples above, but so many EDM producers have become so reliant on them that they don't even realize how off the results are. No disrespect, but you don't even understand what the feature is or does. The whole premise of your thread is "how to get certain sounds" and you claim that it would reproduce any sound with...

"Convert Harmony to MIDI" does not recreate sounds and Ableton doesn't claim that it does. It (attempts to) recreate the polyphonic notes as MIDI only (i.e., not sound).

Cdjs, Serato, all hardware/software gets better with time. It will improve. And to the people who keep saying able ton only gives you the notes being played. Ur idiots. There is a virtual instrument created which you can use. In 5 years this feature will be better. And half of you s will be using it in one way or another
