Title says it all. What are some good websites to go to for doing remixes? Doesn't have to be a remix competition, however, I would prefer to NOT pay money for the source files (lame Beatport)

It can be a label too. I don't want any rights, just looking for good tracks to consider remixing.

I dont think beatport charges you for the remix stems for their remix comps... ive never had to pay for any ive entered in before.

it's sad when i've checked out 20+ remix comps and not been interested in a single one because they're all $hit.

Is this type of crap really what people are listening to today?
http://play.beatport.com/

All 4 songs available for remix competition are T-R-A-S-H

is this a joke? I mean seriously listen to Felix Cartal & ClockWork track and try not to laugh. I havn't paid attention to whats popular in a couple years and I must say I have been SHOCKED by what I've heard the past few days as I go around listening to remix contests and whats charting.

Did all the talented quality producers just flat out quit? Who the is Zedd, Madeon, Avicii, knife party, etc? Is this some sort of a joke?

I thought things were getting really bad when all the kids were making deadmouse plucks and trying to be like him.....HOLY THIS IS EVEN WORSE..

WTF HAS HAPPENED LOL

Yea most of the remix contests on beatport are garbage.. there was a few good ones last year like Guy gerber - steady which i was in. But lately its been mostly just cheesy . And also all the remix contests on remixcomps.com are all the 128bpm diva house cheestfest. Mostly all are the first year labels trying to get their name out there.

Chances of running into a really good remix contest from a known label are kinda slim, especially if you're looking for a specific style and genre.

i suspect a lot of it has to do with marketing, like if a label invested in a track that isnt doing so well (cause it's garbage) have a remix contest and generate some fake hype

I don't really pay any attention to remix comps. I'll also only bother doing a remix upon request from another artist or label as it shows they're actually interested and respect your skills as a producer.
I mean I could do bootlegs but it, I'd rather put the energy into my own work. Guess I look at it differently, but even if I'm asked to remix a tune I initially think is crap, I'll take it as an opportunity to turn it around into something I feel more comfortable with and hopefully others might too.

i'm not to that point yet as far as skills go. i'm still learning a lot and struggling to finish projects, so I look at it as practice and an opportunity to win some prizes.

problem is none of the interests me at all in terms of remixing. The only thing I want to do with those cheesy ass vocal tracks is chop the vocal, reverse it, filter it, on it, and do a dub/instrumental mix that I know is not going to be appreciated by the label/artist/voters.

i didn't have this problem when I ran my own label.....I signed tracks I liked and if I wanted to remix them, well, I already had them sitting there on my desktop!!!!!!

THIS SUCKS

someone help me?
