Maybe not if he is talking about "Convolution Reverb" lol - I used it already and can admit that really like it for some specific tasks.

Cheers

the genesis cm synth. thing is a ing beast for everything: leads, bass, and pad for spending $10-20 on a magazine

Wrong thread. This is the underrated FX thread. Underrated synths thread is here .

Not really underrated, but more along the lines of a somewhat unknown and unique VST is Delay Lama. The animation of the monk as he belches vowel sounds out is an interesting touch. It's free too: http://www.audionerdz.com

I think the problem is I just havn't checked out many others. For plate stuff i use my uad plate140 but most else is ableton. i really like the built-in eq and chorus options along with early reflections, etc. Almost all reverb plugs I check out lack a lot of bells and whistles and I like to work quickly and have everything in front of me. It's all right there with Ableton Reverb and you can run tons of instances of it at the highest settings.

my uad plate140 and ableton reverb have always seemed to work great so i really havn't looked at much else. i did try out a cracked lexicon pcm but wasn't too impressed. "LexRoom" was nice, but again, it seemed to lack good internal editing parameters. beyond predelay, reverb noise, reverb time, and a really crappy EQ, there was nothing else.

Sounds more to me like you really can't tell the difference between high and low quality reverbs. Ableton's isn't bad I guess for dance music, but with other applications it falls short. Lacks real transparency and tails tend to have this grainy harshness making it sound unnatural to my ears even in HQ mode.

AFAIK there is no convolution reverb bundled with ableton, maybe there's some max for live device I'm unaware of though.

Get's the job done fine. =] Has nothing to do with "high and low quality" reverbs, that's pretty ridiculous actually. I would just ignore that feedback. I've been pleased enough with native verb in Ableton so much that I don't need to install any other reverbs, not the case with many of my other effects. If you can't get ableton reverb to sound great and use it for great sound design, it's probably not its fault. ;)
