Boston Gay Pride 2013 is upon us! RISE welcomes back Berlin-based DJ/producer Micky Friedmann for a special 5-hour set. In the lounge, RISE resident Mike Swells takes you down... way down... down to the underground.
Isreali Micky Friedmann has been based in Berlin for the last 15 years, since joining the Berlin Ballet as a soloist dancer in 1998. Micky received his classical and contemporary musical education at the Rubin Academy of Arts in Jerusalem, and was therefore exposed to music and dance from a very young age. This early exposure was an important influence on his future career as DJ/ Producer. In 2000, with his first set of used DJ decks, Micky started practicing at home after long rehearsal days at the ballet studio. It wasn’t long before Micky realized that he wanted to DJ professionally. By 2005 he ended his ballet career and began spinning in Berlin. What started as hobby ‘just for fun’ turned into an incredibly successful career catapulting Micky into one of the most sought after DJs on Int’l Circuit. Micky soon gained residencies in NYC, Toronto, Brussels, Rome, and Moscow. Today you can catch Micky playing some of the biggest Circuit parties in the world, from Beijing to Sao Paulo to Vancouver. He is currently on a World tour with Matinee’s famous CIRCUIT event which culminates in August with a week long festival in Barcelona. Most recently, Micky headlined Asia’s biggest party, Songkran, to a crowd of thousands. This summer, his North American dates include Boston Pride at Rise, Toronto Pride for Prism, Atlanta’s Peach Festival, LA Masterbeat, and Carnival Festival in Provincetown. |
