Goodbye Comfort Zone?

There's a proposal to demolish the Waverly Hotel + Silver Dollar Room to be replaced by a UofT student residence. The Silver Dollar Room would have a new home in the base of the tower, but presumable CZ would be gone.
Before anyone starts panicking, note that this is just a proposal at this time, not an approved & confirmed/funded development.

Sad if it does go through but I think it's safe to say CZ is way past it's prime and 99% of TAs are over the place.
Having said that, I would certainly be there for the final party. |

What kind of a "venue" do you think they are going to put on the bottom of a 20 storey building ... ?! You don't think it will be anything even remotely similar to what is there now do you?!

Possibly but the company that is doing this owned the building since 1985 so it's possible they may want a venue that is somewhat related to what they have now. No matter how bad it may be now it is a source of income to the owners of the venue and to this company. If they wanted to get rid of the club completely they wouldn't build another club after renovations. |

| CZ needs a new venue!! I think a new space would freshen up the crowd. And bring a lot of people back. |

I completely agree with this.
The last couple of times I went there, the crowd was way too sketchy. Music was still great and sound was awesome, but everytime I'd go out for a cigarette or fresh air, I'd feel very out of place because of the things I'd see and hear out there. That being said, it would be good if they relocated and started something new. |
