I really have bad confidence with layering. My ears get used to frequencies and it causes me to struggle when I have listened to a WIP too long. I've been spending more time with sean tyas tutorials and I think I am making better progress.
I use reason6 so all the mixing is very scratch based, got to make everything (i only downloaded some drum samples) from scratch otherwise it feels kind of wrong to me. Have not really worked on melody but i've never been pressured by melody at all, something that i have always found intuitive. But layering is so tough.
Is there anything obviously wrong with this mix that i'm not catching? You can only do so much alone before you need second ears. |

| i thkn its pretty tight actually, good transistions. but it sounds very one dimensional sonically...you need to add a nother layer ot your synth lead to make it fuller and more rounded. it just sounds hollow, it needs more colourtry adding more voices to the bass and synth add more UNISON layering. plus sean tyas is no good imo his tracks lack colour too so not surpriesed yours sound like this. his songs have a lot energy and punch but no emotion really.:wtf: |

could you please post an example? I have not put in a lead yet, just the groove and some electro "wall" sounding synth chord to mark the key i'm operating in for the song. So i dont really know which synth you are trying to specify. I'm assuming your talking about the lack of airy sounding synths and such. |

Industrial bug eyes ftw bro! Seriously though, they light up, and anything that lights up is in awesome in my book. |
