The BEST computer motherboard for a DAW?
I am going with a m-audio delta 1010lt sound card / audio interface for my DAW. |

| Don't those delta audio cards use older slots than the ones that are current on motherboards? In that case your options will probably deminish to just a few, which might not be as good aa you were hoping... |

I have an audiobox 22vsl connected via usb2.0 to my comp. If your motherboard supports usb2.0, then you should be good to go with a set up like mine. Crystal clear audio. I even put pre-wrapped stacks of printer paper under my studio monitors to absorb vibration. Out of everything that i have, the printer paper made the most difference. Just get decent average monitors, clean connectivity with external audio interface, and the only thing you need to worry about is the environment. |

Yes the M-Audio delta 1010lt is for a motherboard with a pci slot.
So yes, I guess I need a motherboard with a pci slot.
But still what is the BEST computer motherboard for a DAW.
Maybe I'll forget about the M-Audio delta 1010lt. |

Congrats man!
AFAIK (and it's be a year or so since I built a PC), you're going to have a few limitations finding the latest performance motherboard that has normal PCI but they are out there. Check newegg, under motherboards, then go more filter options and select PCI. You're bring up quite a few and then it's just a case of finding the best performance one that has a PCI slot.
You may want to call somewhere like Fry's and try to get someone that knows what they are talking about. |

there is the best motherboard and then the best motherboard for non graphic applications.
Just get the middle range of everything. There is no point buying anything new. Untested, will lose its value and it just satisfies this inner feeling that having somehow the fastest computer will make you better. In terms of upgrading, middle range is the same. |

| how bout thinking about CPU, RAM, SSD first and then find a motherboard and cabinett that fits those? i bought a barebone case with motherboard included for my i5 processor with 8gb ram and a ssd, hang it back on my monitor and it works better than any computer ive had and it makes no noise, and very little cables. no PCI or firewire though, just two usb2.0 and two usb 3.0, hmdi, dvi and headphones out. i love it. the only limit was to choose from the 65w processors due to heating. |
