Driftwood Biography -
Driftwood, Ibiza's only trance and progressive boat party, launched in early August 2011 and was the brain child of DJ and Promoters Sam Mitcham and Alex Ryan. Despite claims from various island veteran promoters that a trance boat party would never work, all 5 parties were a total sell out with the closing having to turn away nearly 100 people at the harbour. With heavyweight names such as Aly & Fila, John O'Callaghan, Sied Van Riel, Solarstone and Blake Jarrell headlining, its no surprise that Driftwood became the hottest, freshest and most talked about underground party in the world of trance & progressive music.
In 2012 Driftwood returned with 14 monstrous weekly parties every Monday sunset before A State Of Trance at Privilege, as well as two of their legendary secret Breakfast Club morning boat parties. Throughout the summer over 30 of the finest A List djs graced the Driftwood decks and Funktion One soundsystem, and after selling out the majority of the parties on a much larger vessel they cemented their name firmly on the map as the home of underground Trance and Progressive in Ibiza. Highlights of the summer included their fastest selling party ever, Subculture, which has gone down in the ibiza history books as one of the most craziest parties ever - not surprising with 200 irish on a boat going mad to John O'Callaghan! Add that to antics such as the unannounced surprise speedboat arrival of [DJ Mag No. 5 in the world Trance act] Aly & Fila to join a already stacked, sell out party in September, to last minute secret terrace and club parties with the likes of Giuseppe Ottaviani and John 00 Fleming, its no wonder why Driftwood has rapidly become the choice of the true, underground ibiza clubber.
Driftwood returns every Monday to the magical White Isle for the 2103 season, where they will not only picking up where they left off, but also taking things up a notch or two, including talk of some off the radar club parties! Previous act favorites from the past 2 years will of course be on board, as well as some new and exciting acts and true Ibiza exclusives. Its fair to say 2013 is shaping up to be their biggest year ever and a positive move for the real Trance and Progressive scene. |
