Any truth to that? anything better on that price range? |
all 5" monitors would be "weak" low end. its physics.
but in a small room thats probably what you want. |

you probably wont lol.
if u used one more day googling you would've found out that most people with some sort of knowledge and integrity (and not sponsored by KRK) would claim they suck :) |

Yea i know but it is just for a bedroom, i just want to get a good mix, not in a search for some Monster Beats speakers.
I'm craving the ADAM A3X but the cost 2x more, not sure if it's worth it... |

What the is with people.
There are three threads on this first page of this forum all about cheap studio monitors.
In nearly every thread over the last few years, many models have been discussed and there are several established contstants, but the main one is that KRK are utter rubbish.
Why do people have so many problems just doing the tiniest piece of research. It's not like you even have to figure anything out. "xxxx" speakers are good, stay away from "YYYYY" (mainly KRK, M-Audio).

I really don't know why I bother.
Possibly the worst speakers you could have bought for the money.
i hope you got them from somewhere with a decent return policy. |

| i have a set of 1029s, 1030s and the yamahas and i just use the yamahas . They sound dull. Dry and just seem to be easy to listen to. My room is now much larger so they work great. No sub either now rann. I do have the genelecs eventually for surround but ya , the yamahas are really all you need for mixing dance. |

Hearing heaps of good stuff about ADAM these days. A7X + F7 sub is worth having a listen to. I've been mixing on Rokit 5's for a couple of years. They do not reproduce whatever you are making transparently.
My only advice is:
Don't buy the speakers you can afford right now.
Go with advice from skilled producers.
Get what they advice you to get.
Sooner or later you will grow to understand that the cheap monitors you bought are crap. Then you'll have to pay for the crap speakers PLUS good ones later......
Invest a good amount of money. If you are serious about producing, that is. |

you really don' need to spend that much. Especially when you are starting and the room you are in which is not treated.
I don't really understand what most people's idea of a small budget but surely 500$ can get you something good enough. |

well i'll try them out if i don't like them i'll return them, for now i think that's all i really need. but i'm sure ure right in the biggest scope of things krk and m audio and the likes are just commercial kinda generic type of brands with a below standard quality but affordable. thanks! |

Spent four hours A/B'ing several sets of studio monitors. Focal (Solo 6, CMS 65), Genelec (8040), Adam (A5x), Neumann (K120) and KRK (R6G2). After the first hour I was drawn towards the Genelec's and Focal Solo 6's, but as with people, the first impression isn't always a correct representation. Neumann, hands down, even being small (5") gave the tightest lows, most detailed mids and least fatiguing highs. A5x had no dynamics whatsoever, KRK is , Focal lacked lows, Genelec was too accentuated in the highs though wonderful low/mid, and I resent the CMS65's for every possible reason.
That being said, I LOVED the Neumann's with a sub. But a 3-way Neumann would provide a more accurate picture of what's going on than pairing the K120's with a sub. At least that is what the manager (and studio expert) told me. |
