Apprentice looking for master....(and collab partner)

Title kind of explains things. Just looking for somebody to collab with but also somebody who really knows what their doing who will be able to help me take that next step forward as a producer. I really do believe I have a lot of good ideas but I always find myself having trouble finishing and polishing a product. Will be progressive/trance/house and maybe even breaks. Basically just good sounding melody & groove based music.

Ableton 9 with various softsynths. I'm willing to check out new synths if it'll help the projects move forward but I figured we would just print to audio. UAD 2 & Waves for signal processing.....

FWIW - I am friends with a lot of people on the business side of things, labels in particular. Whatever we work on or any tracks you personally have done I can get into the hands of some very solid labels. I also have some nice personal emails for some of the bigger names with regards to sending out promos. (I owned and ran Olympik Records for several years)

Just PM me if anyone is interested or email stephenwileyrn@live.com

Lots of us get great ideas to decorate our house so we hit the DIY stores load up with paint and ply only to then end up doing a halve decent job because, well, we just can't be arsed?

Yet our neighbour learned to plaster walls and pretty much rebuilt his house to great effect because, well, he could be arsed.

Everyone in music says they have great ideas, but that's only the start. I find the hard part is the slog that follows but why not just enjoy that ride to improvement and not be frustrated?

Colabs can work but maybe the best ones are where there's an equality of effort? No good leaving the really hard last stretch of a race to your team mate.

I appreciate the comment, but I actually have a successful track record from working with others. (Invisible Sounds and Raphie from this website) - Raphie and I made a tune that went on to be played multiple times by the person that I had exactly intended to play it, Paul Oakenfold. I used sample in the song from one of his favorite records ever made, and of course he recognized them which is a really neat feeling. Almost like I'm speaking in code.

TasteXperience - Frustration (Stephen wiley remix)

I've got another great idea for a tune from the late 90's that holds a special place in Tiesto's heart that has not been remixed. I'm in the process of getting the source audio and already have the MIDI. I've got a good edit already done but I've found that two (or three) heads are almost always better than one.

Of course. Nobody wants to get stuck doing the final arrangement and edit after edit.

Your title says you want to be an apprentice to a master but I'm not sure finishing a production is about being a 'master' as it were, just more down to dint of effort in the final home run.

Now if you just want a colab to bounce ideas off each other and make use of your 'two heads better than one' dynamic, well that's fair enough.

I am nowhere near good enough to be a master of course, but good luck with the project.

Well I wrote it that way because I am looking for somebody who is "better" than I am. Doesn't mean they're going to do more of the work, but I've found I learn SO much more when working with others and seeing how they work, etc. I struggle reading a book or watching a vague tutorial and then trying to figure it out on my own.

It's not really a collaborator you're after, it's somebody that knows what they're doing to work on a track with you for free.

But Richard is right, there are tons of people out there with great ideas. It's best to learn the skills yourself tbh.
DjStephenWiley
No.

I have two goals with this proposal

1. Work together with somebody who has more experience (I will learn a lot)

2. Create badass music

That's it.

Results are good music and I get to learn. I'm sure the other person will learn a thing or two as well, and you never know, we could be killer collab partners and go on to become the next Cass & Slide (you'll laugh if you remember Cass & Slide)

hint: They used to make out on stage when they gig'd.

I will keep you in my mind as I have to finish some previous commitments (few project at the same time + full time engineering work doesn't sound funny lol) - will send you private massage when I'm done + we will have to talk a bit about some other stuff ;)

It is all about good experience and fun - isn't it???

Cheers mate,
