After years of abuse, the tip of the jack broke off and now, yeah. It had been warping too. There are a lot of tutorials online on how to replace the jack for headphones, but I'm just worried the quality won't be exactly the same as before.
Only one way to find out I guess. Anyone ever done this before?

I mean, how hard could this be? No heavy soldering involved, either.
Really missing my babies.
Edit: Going to have a friend help me with this who will do the soldering. Right now I'm trying to figure out what type of solder was used originally, in case I need something a little fancier than basic solder, like the silver kind. I think I'll record the process too. |

Sorry, I missed this one.
It's really easy, but the radioshack connectors are ing horrible. They are not made well and you should never use the ones with the tiny screws as solder is the only thing that ever makes a decent connection. I also don't like that they have basically no insulation between the contacts.
You don't need fancy solder, but just make sure you get a small gauge one as those connectors are kind of fiddly.
My personal favorite is this puppy:

Gimme a shout if you need any help with it. |
