Home audio setup

Who else here is into some serious home audio (or car audio)? I've had the Klipsch HD 500 HTIB setup for a few years now, it is a HELL of a system for the money (600 watts of crystal clear sound with a tight low end) but I wanna move that setup into my room and get some Klipsch cabinet speakers (RF-52s maybe?) for the downstairs living room where my current setup is.

It's got a nice Yamaha receiver powering the system and it really does sound great down there. With all the surrounds and an aggressive low-pass setting on the sub, it's sounds damn near like a nice club system. Has a very dynamic range, the highs actually sound like they are floating along high near the ceiling and the low ends come up from beneath you.

And yes, I'm a total Klipsch fanboy. With electronic music, you must have bright-sounding speakers with lots of clarity on the high-end and there's no better speaker company for that type of sound than Klipsch. What components are you guys jamming out to at the house?

Nice system you have there for home audio. I usually spend all my money on my studio .

just picked up a MINT pair of Klipsch KG 3.5s circa 1996 off craigslist. 200 bucks and they outperform brand new $800 sets.

Using them as my mains right now. Took down the tiny home theater in a box speakers I had been using and gonna probably sell those. Got bit by the bug big time lately. Planning on eventually putting those 3.5s in the back and going with the bigger 5.5s for the front along with a 2.5 for a center channel. Probably will get a new Klipsch SW-12 sub, not that I'm really gonna need a sub with as much bass as these can put out.

The vintage Klipsch speakers are just straight up amazing. Better than the current offerings.

In my room I'm gonna see if I can cram in some 1980s era Klipsch Chorus IIs and just a run a basic 2.0 setup: One of the most amazing speakers you could ever hope to hear inside of a home. Gonna power those from a vintage Yamaha amp such as this:

music just sounds so much better since i picked up those Klipschs last weekend. what a difference it makes. so much more enjoyable. the fact you can put together truly amazing systems for a fraction of what it costs to buy new gear is just awesome. Plus the vintage stuff just LOOKS cooler. If anyone's reading this thread and is getting their interest piqued, go get some of this stuff and be blown away. Well worth it.

I need to buy big monitors for a house party. Anyone got any good recommendations?

Read in the above post! Get your hands on some Klipsch Chorus speakers! Fortes and Quartets are in the same line of speakers, just smaller (Chorus are the largest, Fortes are in the middle, Quartets are the smallest, but don't be fooled, still plenty big to bring the house down). They will blow you away. You don't need a sub particularly if you're just doing music...maybe just turn the low freqs up a little bit. I know you probably mean DJ speakers but man, you can use these for either job.

You have a dedicated sub?

And are you looking for Home Theater or PA style speakers?

New (HT): Acoustech PL-89 $515/pair

Powered PA setups are more expensive, but useful if you don't have a strong amp

New (PA): Behringer B212D (powered) $550/pair
