Yea, that's what I'm getting out of it so far.

I don't get the whole "trending topics" and normal tweets part of it. Twitter moves so much faster than Facebook - who cares what you're doing or what you have to say in regards to some stupid trending topic or whatever.

I'm using it more as an RSS feed, which is working out OK so far.

Definitely better for obtaining meaningful information than Facebook.

I think the fact I don't know anyone who uses it is actually better because then I don't have people trying to add me or asking me why I deleted them.

Constantly having to read people's status updates is nauseating.

None, and I can't really be convinced I am missing anything. Unless TA counts for some weird reason.

Tumblr seems like the ing geocities/angelfire of the present day.

Filled with gifs, stupid posts, and porn.

Same here, it just created drama for me too. I'll just stick to actually talking to people. The closet thing I have now is a Flickr:p

Facebook and Last.fm, if we can count that as social media and not just a way of obsessively monitoring your music habits.

I held off joining up to Facebook for years, but I've realised it's actually a fantastic tool for clubbing. Not only can you find and keep track of events and attendees really easily, but you can keep in contact with clubbers you met whilst ed at an afterparty and would never otherwise speak to again. I've made a couple of really good mates in that way. The key to avoiding "drama" and a feed clogged with bull is to be extremely ruthless about who you add or keep on there.

Don't delete people, block them. Then they can't ask you. And you don't have to read everyone's updates. You can remove them from your news feed but still be friends. I've removed about 1/4 of my friends from my feed because I don't get anything out of what they post.

I regularly use Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, Instagram, does Youtube count? Google+ - I have only logged in like twice in the last year. Oh, and LinkedIn.

LinkedIn is great for building a professional network (obviously), I actually got job offers cause of the linkedin account,

Twitter's great in that I get the fastest news and information in the fields I'm interested in, and Facebook's Facebook.
