id have to disagree on the festival comment. yes being around thousands of people partying is an incredible experience, but you can get the same effect in a large majority of clubs (granted not 40k plus) but you get the idea. plus i like the dark, grimy feels of clubs rather than daytime festivals. you also dont get anywhere near the musical journey a dj will take you on during clubs sets in a festival environment specifically for the reason were talking about here. sets are far too short.
and yes, DT for 90 min is a complete insult. |

When has Digweed ever done an after party in Toronto (aside maybe a private one for close friends?)
If not, then why would anyone expect one? He'll never play for more than 2.5-3hrs in this city. Ever again at least. |

They are two completely different experiences. To me, partying outdoors with thousands of people is an awesome experience, which in my now 'older' partying days, I prefer much more than dark rammed clubs rooms. I can't say I've been to any traditional club where the same experience can be replicated. Having said that, you are absolutely right to point out the MAJOR downside of festivals here - the absolutely ridiculous set lengths. They try to pack dozens of DJs to cater to a wide spectrum music taste while, as you mentioned, leaving no room for the dj to truly show his/her craft in taking the crowd through a journey. It is hard to truly appreciate the story music can tell you with the silly 90 min sets. |

I have friends that want to go second day only.
Imagine Veld had 1000 walkups at 120 for Sunday, thats 120,000 of gross revenue they would miss if they didnt allow single day Sundays. Still waiting... |
