"if i didnt think it felt wrong, i wouldn't say . if theres an "dance music bubble" its Afrojacks ass, and his head is WAY the up in it. I think EDM has come a LONG way in a matter of 10 years, for sure... lots of positives for the music side, and the corporate-sh markety side, which i think should be treated separate. Yes, in my opinion theres a 'dance music bubble' It's the all encompassing event driven market were sitting in right now. Hello largely branded festivals in every corner of the north american market, every 4 days. I just don't want to see the 'bubble' get popped by being represented and driven into a wall by a buncha head nodding dudes who all stand firm to stay successful in a market they'll loose out on should things happen to evolve or change."Joel Zimmerman

Says the man who would only be known to a small handful of people and be about 20m poorer without that stupid mousehead thing. Ya marketing tricks and dance music bubble had absolutely nothing to do with his own success at all.
And he never just pressed PLAY, he preformed the out of his sets.

His first successful track wasn't even under the same alias. It was under BSOD with Steve Duda.
Without the mau5head he might not have become as successful but he was successful before it. |

I love his little rants. I remember BSOD. Which always reminds me of those morons that say he jumped on the electro band wagon. |

You know, as pompous as he is, I gotta agree. If you guys read the article he mentioned that Afrojack said he only makes music that is "good". How much more arrogant can you be? And personally, if he thinks his music is good well then I am just as good as he is,and that ladies and gentlemen is simply not true, I suck!
Joel hit it on the head though, he said don't make music you think is good, make music YOU enjoy and me taking that further is if a label sees something in that and your music gets heard? It is extra special.
There should not be a business in EDM, it should be for personal gain in artistry. Sure..peeps need to eat,but this is crazy how some of these guys are making mad cash doing something that is virtually a kids game.
Here in vegas at hakkasan I have heard that Tiesto and gang are making 250k for there residencies. I never heard if that was a combined amount for all the shows or if the rumor was true and it was for single appearances (which I find hard to believe but, I guess it is possible) and yes Joel....dont talk to soon, your one of them!
Granted, this is all being said from a person who is NOT nor will I ever be in the position these guys are. How long will it last? Better secure your , you never know when or if that bubble will bust in your face |
