Tecty - stop looking at curves and marketing bull. It's meaningless.
If you want to have a good read as to why you shouldn't just rely on curves (aside from the fact you have no idea of the conditions i.e. treated room or anechoic chamber, what mic was used and what source etc) then have a look at this:
http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Are+s...ia).-a097823137
Short story is the guy does some very serious qualitative testive and even he states that his curves are far from perfect.
Also, not sure' if you've noticed but those curves aren't on the same resolution scale so you can't even use them as a direct comparison.
You can only really tell by listening to them in a decent environment, and then getting the informed opinion of other people that you trust.
Beyond that and if you don't do these things and keep just talking about the HS8's being better, I'll start to think you're a cunning plant from Yamaha's PR department :conf: |

I didn't really searched :D so long ( i did just on internet). I will see what i'm gonna do and i will let you know what i bought... anyway is almost sure i'm gonna go for hs80m or hs8. |

You can't go wrong with hs80m but size of your room will or should be a deciding factor in your selection between hs80m and hs7.

I've been using HS80Ms for the past three years and have absolutely no intention of upgrading for a long time. The only things I'd consider replacing these with are Event Opals or Focal Twins, which are 6x the price.
They're honestly a great set of monitors. |

| So much good reviews about the hs80s... but i just ask you guys why they would make a new upgrade to the serie if the news are not better? |

Dude, for the last ing time, you keep trying to shoe horn that they are better, just because they are a new model.
Again, stop reading in to : KRK, Mackie, PMC and B&W are brands off the top of my head that had a superb model out at one point that they replaced with a "better" model.
In all these cases, "better" meant they either couldn't source the parts of the older model, or they got too expensive to continue to make, so they decided to bring out a "new and improved" version, and simply bank on their established reputation.
KRK haven't made a decent monitor in nearly 10 years but certain people will still assume as if they are that company that was still making that one incredible speaker.
Mackie's HR824 was the industry standard for a decade until they decided to bring out a "new" version (read cheaper production costs) to replace the ageing and eclipsed line (in no small part to HS80's which are better and cost less).
What I'm saying is, just because it's new, doesn't make it better, and in many cases in the monitor industry, it makes it worse.
So again, how the would you actually know which is better? You haven't actually heard either and listening to what some guy that owns a shop says is only marginally worse than looking at two non identical frequency curves and making a decision.
You have it on good and multiple authority that HS80's are good monitors, so unless you get the same feedback or decide for yourself by actually listening to them that the HS8's are superior, please just stop. |
