What genre of edm are the tracks that guys like Prydz, Matt Fax, Olander and Jaytech play? This is the sound im currently feeling. Its labeled as prog house but for whatever reason so is the current festival house. So I constantly find myself stumbling onto "prog house" mixes full of cheesy chainsaw sounds. Are there sites that cater to the Prydish sound or is there a specific sub genre name? Progressive house has become to mean SHM/Alesso type sounds :(

It has been catalogued as Progressive House in all big digital stores. A few of them you can find as Deep House. People on another forums tends to call these kind of tracks as Melodic Progressive House. In fact, Progressive House is slowly becoming a mess, just like Trance. If you look for Trance you will find tons os Electro-ish tracks on Beatport (for example), the same with Progressive House, you will find tons of Big Room/Club House if not some Trance or even Techno tracks.

Not sure if you are browsing TA lately, but this was widely discussed here...also, here. Apparently, Beatport doesn't give a flying about it

Thanks. Good stuff have not browsed lately. Frustrated from clicking on things labeled progressive house to hear Alesso/SHM sounds. I often use 1001tracklists and EVERYTHING is labeled progressive house. How a track Hardwell might play can be considered the same as a track Jeremy Olander might play is ridiculous.

Searching for music on beatport by genre is a waste of time. They don't label correctly. Try looking for the same music by searching for the recording label name for the producers you like.

Yeah the Beatport tagging is indeed a mess

Other labels to check out would be Mistique Music, Green Snake Recordings, Arrival, Deepsessions, Spring Tube etc
