| Kind of fringe, but I would be interested to see if the UK experiences a surge or drop in violent crime after enforcing this. |

Yes, and an increase in population due to more jizz finding its way into vaginas instead of tissues.
On a more serious note, I am convinced that doing this "for the children" or "to fix society" is very short-sighted. It's the parent's job to enforce morals in the upbringing of their children, not the government. Yet the government is sending out very mixed signals. I would say that we already live in a society with less emphasis on cohesive families (for example: benefits for single parents is an incentive to be irresponsible) and ever decreasing respect for the institution of marriage. Porn has not caused these things, policy has. Maybe if the government would focus on the real underlying issues then we wouldn't need this farcical ban? |

Personally I think that the resources required to develop this filter would have been better spent on sex ed.
Sex is such a fundamental part of the human condition, alongside food and death. Trying to hide our children from it, rather than preparing them for it, will just be too devastating.
Also, this is a good read about masturbation:

| AFAIK, the whole filter is supposed to halve the child-pornography trade. I find all kinds of censorship absurd, in this case, law offenders will use Tor Browser to remain anonymous. |

| Don't you need TOR anyways to look at child porn? How could that be available on the regular internet? |

That's the final straw .. I'm moving. Can't even have a wank in peace.
p.s. why does 'wank' come up on spell-check ? FFS. |

Good question. You could download TOR if the main site is accessible. I don't know if they are targeting sites like Tor; It would seem a bit Dodgy to me.
Having TOR does not make you 100% anonymous, but it's harder for them to spot you. A Tor Bridge adds another layer of protection.
| quote: | Lately, censors have found ways to block Tor even when clients are using bridges. They usually do this by installing boxes in ISPs that peek at network traffic and detect Tor; when Tor is detected they block the traffic flow.
To circumvent such sophisicated censorship Tor introduced obfuscated bridges. These bridges use special plugins called pluggable transports which obfuscate the traffic flow of Tor, making its detection harder. To connect to obfuscated bridges you need to use the Obfsproxy Tor Browser Bundle. The bundle includes some pre-configured obfsproxy bridges and you can get more from BridgeDB |

For Mail Encryption you could use GPGMail (on Mac OS X) and Pidgin for chatting. Although, I haven't found a way to encrypt iOS iChat.
Nothing will make you 100% anonymous, but at least you make them work twice as hard. |

Still watching porn

Yeah this isn't censorship, but it's on the slippery slide to censorship. Downvote this . |
Ok I take it back, this is censorship lite and looks to be reaching much further than just porn.
UKTAs, prepare to opt in for visiting TA

Also don't let this pass because it will help the cause for the censorship crusaders down here too :nervous: |
